My students need multicultural craft supplies for our school wide cultural unit (washable people paint colors and crayons, craft paper) and binding and laminating materials to help publish our creations this school year.
Multicultural education is… about all people, regardless of their ethnicity, language, religion, gender, race, or class. Students in a diverse world should truly understand the meaning of multicultural!
Our school works hard to join together each month to celebrate our monthly successes at a flag raising in the bus loop.
This past year, our school pulled together resources to buy an America Flag. This flag is the symbol of our 'Global Missions' this coming school year. It's been hung in our state capital, flown on military jets overseas, and it'll continue its travels across this fine planet by our various branches of military before returning to our school in the spring. What kind of kids do we have? The kind of students that roared when they heard the news about the flag.
My Project
My school theme for 2011-2012 will be Global Missions. I plan to split this theme into two different categories. The first semester, we will travel the oceans and seas learning about different continents, countries, cultures, and landforms. Our "missions" will lend to multicultural education. The second semester we will learn about global impact of our daily lives and how we can work together to reduce, reuse, and recycle. The thematic learning event will conclude with a school wide multicultural fair.
I believe the resources requested in this donation will enhance our visuals for the presentation. The resources requested are multicultural paper, paint, and crayons. Additionally, we are requesting laminating and book binding machines to publish our work for the presentations during the multicultural fair.
Multicultural Awareness and Global Impact are two relevant topics today.
I believe in hands on activities for concrete examples. Let's help educate the youth in a fun and meaningful way!
