My Students

Students will have an opportunity to explore the field of broadcast journalism by contributing to several school projects. In order to do this, my students need a video camera, a digital memory card and a tripod to create a school video yearbook and public service announcements for our school cable network.

Seventh and eighth grade students have chosen to study in a media production class in order to gain experience in various types of journalism through: film, magazine, and web.

Each student is interested in studying for a possible career in journalism, film production, or communication.

My Project

Students will gain additional knowledge about broadcast organizations and production. Each student will also learn additional knowledge about magazine organization and production. They will work in teams to: develop and strengthen skills in journalistic reporting and writing, investigate media sources for credibility, and implement the Instructional Design Methodology in the school website for students. The class will break into teams to apply knowledge and skills learned to publish a video yearbook, SEVA video project, literary magazine and a student website, while practicing time management to meet deadlines. This will develop a sense of personal responsibility and dependability.

This class offers a chance for students to develop many skills: writing, researching, public speaking, interviewing, filming, editing, critiquing, revising, collaborating, time management, and much more.

This gives students a chance to explore the field of publication in: websites, magazines, and film.
