Students are amazed when they realize they can decode many words by looking at the parts of the word. This project will provide the tools for students to independently work to learn a variety of prefixes, suffixes, Greek and Latin roots along with their meanings to improve their vocabulary.
Our school has experienced hard times due to extensive budget cuts.
The staff works hard to keep things new and and interesting to students. My students are eager learners who look forward to new, exciting tasks. This station will help those students who are looking to increase test scores as well as reading comprehension.
My Project
This project has two parts. Reference books with activities to teach prefixes, suffixes and Greek/Latin Roots and pens and note cards to make color-coded flashcards that students can keep for practice. Students will be pre- and post- tested on the materials and keep track of their new learning.
This project is geared toward vocabulary enrichment for all learners.
It is self-paced for those who want to increase their vocabulary and word knowledge at a quicker rate. The materials will be included at a learning center for students to access when they are finished with other tasks.
