Mrs. Sellari from Memphis TN is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a document camera. This will allow student a visual when using Math manipulatives and the opportunity to demonstrate their own knowledge before the class.

Unfortunately, in a classroom filled with 30 desks someone has to sit at the back of the room. Help all my students have a front row seat by giving us the gift of a document camera.
I teach a group of 59 fourth graders at an inner city school.
My students often need intense motivation to participate in lessons. They enjoy being engaged with technology and are mainly visual learners. They would be very excited to have a document camera in the classroom because it would allow me the opportunity to expand on the type of activities and interaction that they engage in in our classroom.
In a fast paced world of video games and television, pencil and paper assignments just don't cut it. My students love to learn by interacting with the Math concepts I am teaching by using manipulative's to model the skills to give them a conceptual understanding. It is often difficult for me to model these activities with so many students in the classroom. When I am at the front of the classroom the students in the back can't see and it is difficult for me to move through the room with so many desks serving as obstructions. A document camera would be the ideal solution. I would be able to model activities and have students use the camera to demonstrate their own understanding. This would be an item that I would use multiple times a day with both of my classes. I feel that this tool would help build confidence in those students who are insecure in their abilities because they would be given a visual example to refer to when working.
I feel that the addition of a document camera to our classroom will greatly increase student achievement by motivating students to become more involved in the lessons due to improved visuals.
