My students need 4 MP3 players with built in microphones and 4 digital cameras so that they can produce podcasts and capture their learning in a technology rich environment.

Never has a statement been more true than now. As our world moves towards technology, it is time that our children learn with the tools that will enhance their education and allow them to lead us into tomorrow.
My students attend a Title 1 school that is HIGH poverty, crime, and drug rate.
Most of these students have only traveled outside of the county on field-trips. They are a beautiful and loving group of children, who for the most live with one parent or grandparent. They come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, yet at recess, they play as a team. They are truly remarkable! Some of them eat at school and take what they can home because there isn't anything there. Some wear clothes that are too big or too small, but they come. I don't want you to feel sorry for them, I want you to realize that how amazing they are! They show up and learn. No matter what happened last night at home or that they wore the same clothes twice in a row, they come.
My Project
They crave technology and dream big. They love Mondays because that is their computer lab day. They have a desire to be more and do more, to work harder and become smarter. I just need help being able to give it to them. They want the knowledge so they have something to say. Then, they want to be heard. That's why we are asking for technology equipment. My students have expressed their desire to betwixt and to illustrate their betwixt with pictures. We desperately want to be the ones to open their eyes so that they desire to become productive citizens who can contribute to their community, society, and world. One day, they will be our leaders, be it good or bad. Let's make it good, let's guide them into tomorrow.
By showing our students that they matter and that the world is looking and listening, we have a chance to change their futures.
We have a chance to raise their expectations and their goals. We have a chance to create citizens who will take pride in their work and strive to produce a sound product for their viewers and listeners.
