Hans Christian Anderson once said "Where Words Fail, Music Speaks". Many students in middle school are self-conscious about singing in their General Music classes due to the challenge of changing voices. To allow their music to speak, my students need other outlets for their voices to be heard.
My students range from grades six through eight.
Though many of these students have an interest in participating in our schools music program, many cannot due to their socio-economical situation. I have personally purchased many things for my music classroom, such as music, piano keyboards, and small drums in order to give my students the opportunity to have a hands-on musical experience. By giving my students the opportunity to be able to compose their own music, they are able to have an active role in their learning, and are able to experience being part of a music program!
My Project
My students are in need of supplies to be used for musical composition in the General Music and Chorus classroom. Rather than simply enjoying listening to music, I want my students to experience writing their own music and experience playing it in an ensemble. My students will use the rhythms, melodies and harmonies that they have been learning about to create the own musical works. Some students have been experimenting with composing their own music, but to do it effectively, they need the proper tools! I am striving to give my students full immersion in the musical experience!
Please support my young musicians.
Your generous donation would have such a tremendous effect on my students musical experience. It is my hope for each of my students to have a complete musical experience, from learning music theory basics and piano basics, to composing their own musical works. There is so much more that students can get out of music class when they can achieve this full musical experience!
