My Students

"Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart." ~William Wordsworth Writing is the window to your imagination and soul. My students are slowly discovering how writing can help them to express themselves, and to be creative. Help my students to open that window and let imagination shine through.

I am teacher/ mother to students who come from the inner city.

My students are second and third grade students who enjoy learning. Their opportunities to extend their learning is often limited to the inside of my classroom. We are part of a small school with only two teachers per grade level. Our classroom and school is very family like. Students often share teachers with their siblings. Teachers often visit students at their homes. My students are eager to receive any information I offer them. They love for me to listen to what they have learned. They come from homes where they are not always listened to. My goal is to provide an environment where they feel important, loved, and most of all heard!

My Project

The resources provided will allow my students to effectively participate in the writing workshop process. Journals will allow students to keep a record of their growth as writers. The journals will be something that they can cherish well into adult life. How cool would it be to look back and read something that you wrote in elementary school? The teaching resources requested (charts) will allow me to provide effective examples of the writing process. My students will be closer to becoming better communicators. They will also become skilled in expressing themselves.

In this age of technology, becoming an effective writer is often placed on the back burner.

Your donations will provide my students with a creative outlet to express themselves. It will also aid them in becoming effective communicators. Often times the first and only impression someone receives of you is what you have written. Help my students to make a good impression, and the value the art of written expression and communication.
