I am the sponsor of our robotics team. We are an after school activity, not a class, and therefore do not have a dedicated classroom. We move from room to room depending on the activity we are doing at the time. If we are researching for our notebook essay or brainstorming, we are in the business lab; if we are brainstorming, designing, and building our robot we are in the CAD lab. We use a whiteboard to do a lot of our brainstorming and since we do not have a dedicated room, we take pictures of the whiteboard so that we have documentation for our engineering notebook, hence the first part of the title "Draw Flash". The "What is that?" part of the title is us trying to figure out what was supposed to be in the spot that has the glare from the lights or the glare from the flash. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. What we need is a whiteboard that prints what we draw so that we do not have to take a picture. The purpose of this grant is to purchase an interactive whiteboard. You may know it as a Smartboard or a Panaboard; it depends on the company from which it is purchased. We are not picky, we will take either one. But the one we looked at that we feel will fit our needs is the Panaboard UB-5315. With this unit, we will be able to draw ideas on the board, print, and make copies for the team. This unit can also be used during class as well when notes assignments are written, they can easily be printed to accommodate those who were absent or who are in special education and need copies of the notes.
