This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever been that person sitting in the "cheap seats?" When sharing information through a power point or the Internet my students in the back of the room are unable to see on the small screen. I look forward to sharing these resources so ALL will enjoy no matter where they are sitting.
Over 95% of our students are on free or reduced lunch.
They know more about life than a child their age ever should. As the art teacher, I strive to create a place where they feel safe to express themselves freely. I work with every student in my school from preschool to fifth grades. That is over 500 students on a $200 budget for the year of consumables. We are a Title 1 school on the states School Improvement 1 List. As a team we are all working together to make it OFF the list! With resources like these in this project we will surely enhance instruction and continue our climb to the top!
My Project
I teach in a room that was originally the boys locker room, turned science lab, that has found its new life as an art room. I started this program with a few boxes of consumables and slowly but surely... My goal is to create the Best Art Studio for children this city has ever seen. With the projector, stand, and books my students will ALL be able to see the resources not just the lucky few that are sitting closest to the computer station. I believe if I can gain their interest in people and places through art they will adventure out on their own through their studies. I have SO many art history resources I can use through the projector. I get so excited just thinking about it!!
The Arts celebrate multiple perspectives and teach children there is more than one way to solve a problem look forward to the opportunity to share many people and places of this world with my students through the use of technology.
I know this project brings my room one step closer to creating a studio my students deserve!
