Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help keep our social studies and science curriculum going! It's much more exciting (and academically helpful) to make our own books than read a textbook!

I teach fourth grade in a rural, low-income area of Northern California.

We are considered a Title I school as the vast majority of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. We also have a high percentage of ESL (English as a Second Language) students.

My Project

My students have been creating "lapbooks" as culminating review for both social studies and science. Lapbooks consist of "foldables" (pieces of construction paper folded into various shapes) that are used to house vocabulary, diagrams, and other essential content. We have also been creating Interactive Science Textbooks which house many glued items. Thirty-one students x 5-7 foldables for each unit x several units = lots of glue! We're down to just a few left! This proposal is a simple request for more glue sticks. I have asked for thirty-five packs of 12 glue sticks in order to keep us going 'til the end of the year and beyond. It is a basic supply, but quite necessary! Social studies and science are integral to our everyday world.

Your donation will ensure that my students have the adequate tools to create their own social studies and science review in a fun, aesthetically pleasing, and helpful manner.

Any amount you are able to donate is much appreciated!
