Do you remember how magical art class was when you were young? Allow the magic of glass fusing to enter my high school art classroom. Students will have the opportunity to work with glass artist Linda Billet and create their fused glass pendants.
My students are in grades 9-12th and attend a small public high school in a rural town in Pennsylvania.
The students come from a large range of income levels. Students are eager to learn about different mediums in art and have been requesting to learn about glass making on a consistent basis this year.
Glass artist Linda Billet came into the class and spoke to the students about her work. Students were beyond excited. Linda is willing to come in and give of her time for free to teach the students how to create fused glass pieces. The students are eager to learn new skills.
The students in my class have selected to be there, and are interested learning more about art and possibly pursuing it in the future.
My students are full of energy and brimming with creative ideas. The students are persistent once they have an idea, and will continue to try to determine new ways to approach problems in order to succeed.
My Project
I am requesting sheets of colored glass, and glass rods in order for the students to be able to create fused glass pendants.
Glass artist Linda Billet will come into the class and teach students about cutting, and fusing glass to create wonderful works of art.
The project is extremely important as it connects the students to an artist working in the field and taps directly into their interest.
Students have been actively trying to figure out on their own how to create pieces of art from glass, and this project will reward their perserverence.
