Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine how hard it would be to learn how to write if your hands were just not strong enough? This is a problem for many of my kindergartners! Fine motor skills are imperative for writing and hundreds of activities that we do each day, from zipping a jacket to counting a pile of objects.

My classroom is made up of 22 fabulous four and five year olds who crave an amazing environment to learn.

I teach Kindergarten 1, a Kindergarten curriculum for four year olds, in a Title I public school. Our school is located in a very urban, poverty stricken community. Many of my students are English Language Learners with very limited English vocabularies. Unfortunately, most of the children do not have fabulous learning materials at home.

My Project

Your generous donation will provide my students with engaging materials including lacing cards, laces and needles,theraputty, scissors, play dough and stampers, builders, pencil grips and other materials that strengthen their hands and develop pre-writing skills, while allowing them to explore and learn. These materials are fun and engaging! I will also be able to use the materials to show parents how to improve their child's fine motor skills at home, and even send home materials for the children to practice with. Developing strong motor skills now will ensure that these students are not frustrated each time they pick up a pencil for the rest of their academic lives.

Our district has made major cutbacks and is unable to supply the materials we need.

The parents of the children I teach have very limited resources and are unable to purchase materials for school. I have also stretched my personal resources very thin and am unable to purchase these wonderful materials. Your donation will truly impact my students lives by increasing their self esteem, allowing them to explore and build crucial life skills. Thank you so much!
