My students need a projector to support their visual learning in all subjects in our Special Day Autism program.

My Students

My students come from an economically challenged environment. On top of these challenges they also face the personal challenges of social, cognitive and language delays.

My students are from an urban school district that does not have the resources to support their visual learning style.

They are amazingly capable students when we can effectively communicate our expectations. When we are unable to make those connections, however, our class struggles. My students are funny, creative and deeply interested in some of the most interesting topics from baseball to cleaning products.

My Project

Currently we are using a VCR and a 20 inch television which works great but there is a limited selection of VHS materials to support student learning. With a projector we can go far beyond VHS. We will be able to do custom made power-points and student-specific videos. The projector will be used 3-4 periods a day to enhance subject matter. Our curriculum also includes power-points which we have not been able to access as a group.

Your donation would drastically alter the day to day functions of our class.

The most effective learning strategy for students with autism is visual. My students need this projector to reach their full potential.
