My Students

Since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, our school district has faced many challenges.

Our students have come a long way since then.

They have gone from being homeless to having a community that has been rebuilding since the day the storm hit. They have gone from having only the shirts on their backs to living a comfortable life in rebuilt homes and neighborhoods.

My Project

As any band, we rely on many copies of music from season to season, year to year. In an effort to provide our students with the best possible musical experience and a way to allow us to preserve our music for years to come, we copy all music to give to the students so they can make notes on it as we rehearse. This paper will allow us to continue to provide the needed copies of music and paperwork that the students need for a successful band program.

Katrina is an everlasting impact on our community and our students.

Although we are recovering, it will be many years to come before the impact of this horrific storm is a thing of the past.
