Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help us interact with our learning.Do you remember when you got your first computer?I'll bet you were amazed at the things it could do! Well, that's how we feel when we get to use an interactive board. My teacher creates cool lessons! It makes learning fun in all subjects. We pay attention and learn.
My class consist of 18 First Graders in a typical education class.
Our school, located near a large city is a Renaissance school having over 90 percent of students on free lunch. In our class 100% of my students are on free lunch. Three of my classmates are homeless and are living with other family members. They come from diverse cultures and low socio-economic backgrounds. Because of the environment in which they are being raised, students come to school with many needs and disadvantages. We are eager to learn, but require high engagement levels of instruction.
My Project
My students need the Mimio Interactive device that attaches to our whiteboard,so that I can create and implement interactive lessons to engage all my students. The intent and purpose of this grant is to create an intensive, interactive learning environment for my students. They come from low-socioeconomic, disadvantaged homes and many are English language learners. This equipment will offer an opportunity to use technology to effectively allow my students to internalize concepts taught from our State Standards in an interactive, stimulating environment that will foster retention of material. The goal of this teaching technology is to foster excitement for learning that will keep the attention of students as they interact with technology in all subject areas.
The technology being purchased will last for many years and will influence the instruction and the learning gains of my students.
Therefore, it has the potential of enhancing the learning experience for hundreds of students for years to come.
