Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When most of us learned how to add and subtract it was with a paper and pencil. Help to make learning come alive for a marvelous group of first graders!
These students live in an urban area and most of them never leave the city.
They are an energetic group of first graders who love to learn and need manipulatives to make learning come alive for them. They love to listen to stories and create things. They love to play games and be active!
My Project
These math materials will enhance their understanding of addition, subtraction, money, and time. It will allow them to experience math in a whole new light. The privacy folders will allow them to work on various activities without worrying about their neighbor "peeking in" on them. The math related books will help them to "really get" math in an interactive way and be able to tie it into what they do everyday.
Math games, such as addition, subtraction and numbers bingo help students to experience math in an exciting way and not realize that they are actually learning at the same time. Wrap Around games enhance a students understanding of various topics and require their extreme attention to what EVERY person's clue is in order for them to make sure that they do or do not have the answer. These materials are needed to further these students understanding and application of their mathematical skills.
By donating to this project you will allow 24 first graders the opportunity to "see" math come alive.
They will be able to play games in which math will be fun and not a chore. They will hear stories about how math is around them EVERYDAY! Please help these first graders and make math an interactive and marvelous experience!
