My students need some real world experiences to broaden their horizons, and these living creatures are sure to wake them up! Rats, a tarantula, a leopard gecko and a chameleon are hands-on awakening!
My children are from impoverished Louisiana in the inner-city areas and most have had little real-life experiences and some little travel or adventures to enhance their life and education. My goal is to wake them up to the strange and beautiful world around and you can help!
These students are full of energy yet many lack direction.
With these supplies, our students will have things to be responsible for, get their attention away from many of their distractions, and keep them focused on their education and the world around them. Some have very little positive moments in their life. By investing in this project, you can be a part of investing into the minds and lives of our future generation.
I have seen many children turn their lives around, but it starts with hooking their attention... and what better way than the tools of nature? Rats, spiders, and lizards.... oh my!
Many of my students have never traveled much and never experienced many things that we take for granted. While some can brag that "I went to New York or California", some can say things a lot less glamorous. But the most important thing is that they love to learn and this project would greatly help me reach the young minds I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach each day!
My Project
The tarantula will undoubtedly be a resource and a lesson in responsibility to the students I teach in the years to come! While most have heard of them or seen them in movies, real-life experiences will expand their horizons and educationally stimulate them to ask questions and investigate.
The gecko will be a friendly addition for those that like to touch things and see a spectacular display of living science... and finally the rats will be a fantastic study guide in anatomy and dissection... where each class will even get to see where babies are "grown" (as they are pregnant)!
These children are our country's future...and every day I try to make a difference to teach these young ones how to make better choices in their lives.
