Do you remember math class when you were a young student? If you remember games and real- life situations, then you probably remember math as being fun. If math was a worksheet or textbook, you may have been frustrated and disliked math at an early age.
My students live in a small rural area.
Most have grown up in this area as well as their parents. Our families are very supportive of our public school, and they work hard to help their children receive a good education. My class loves to play basketball, participate in 4-H, and many are very active in their local church groups.
My Project
Students are being challenged with harder concepts in math. I have chosen several games and manipulatives to help make these concepts fun and interesting. I have chosen several games to help with fractions, decimals, geometry, and problem-solving. These are difficult to grasp at first, but with manipulatives and fun activities to go with the lessons, students will practice and learn while enjoying the math lesson. I also have chosen a interactive whiteboard series to use as an introduction and review of math concepts we will be tested on in the spring. I love to teach math, and I enjoy watching my students having fun while learning key concepts that will help them be successful in their education and in life.
My students will greatly benefit from these math resources I have chosen.
In addition, they will be shared with two more classes and used for many years to instruct students in our community.
