My Students
What happened to the shelves?! Three fourths of the library shelves were destroyed when the carpeting was removed from the library two years ago. We had some wood shelves built to start to replace what was lost, but we had to lose 3,000 books in the process.
Breaux Bridge is a rural area with sugarcane fields and crawfish ponds. Our students need to be able to find what they need in the library, and they need to read to learn more about the world around them. Many of them never leave the parish, and most of them will never leave the state.
My Project
The students of Breaux Bridge High School need a wide variety of books to read during our silent reading time. They need to broaden their horizons so that they know there is a big world out there that they can conquer. Many students are talented in art and need guidance in their drawing. Books can provide them with an outlet for their creativity.
A lost metal shelf from the original library shelves was found in a classroom. It is the perfect place to start to rebuild the collection that was lost. Students come in asking for books to read, but we just don't have the funds to buy all the books we need for our students. We have 844 students and less than 6500 books. Help us Rebuild the Bridge!
