Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students need to bring their photos to life! We have made the transition to digital photography but don't have a printer for the students to print their photographs.
I have an amazing group of high school students who are making the transition from darkroom photography to digital photography.
96% of our students are economically disadvantaged; 56.2% are limited English proficient, and 74.2% are at-risk (Academic Excellence Indicator System 2006-07 Texas Education Agency).
My Project
My students would GREATLY benefit from these resources! We have recently made the transition from darkroom photography to digital photography. Our camera resources are very limited and we share throughout the class. Although this is challenging, my students love every minute of it!
Right now we do not have the resources for my students to enjoy their hard work. We can view their photography digitally, but we don't have any means to print. My goal is to create a station where they can view, save, and print their photographs. I believe this will teach my students how to keep on pace with and finish their own assignments. I feel this is a valuable resource for my students, especially since they are on their way to college.
Majority of my students are economically disadvantaged and this is their first experience with any type of photography.
Most don't even own a camera. I want them to have a great experience, gain knowledge, and have a piece of art to take with them they can be proud of.
