Digital E-Reader: Connecting Readers to Technology
My students need a digital reader so they can begin incorporating technology into their reading life, and no longer will students have to wait for their favorite book!
Literacy is the great equalizer, in my personal opinion. And even more so is the need to connect technology into students' everyday lives. This is where a classroom digital reader will benefit my students immensely. Their favorite books will always be right at their fingertips.
With limited funding this year, I am unable to purchase a large supply of books for my classroom library.
Thankfully, my students are voracious readers and are always looking for "quiet reading time" built into lessons. Unfortunately, I cannot provide them with every book they would like to read. A digital reader will allow me to download books as often as possible, while building a great classroom library at the same time. Our quiet reading time will be transformed, and being able to use the reader will be a great incentive for classroom rewards, which the students are always striving for.
My Project
Having a digital reader will transform my students' reading lives, as they will no longer have to wait for a book they would like to read to come back to the library, or spend their own money at the bookstore to purchase a book-- it will be right at their fingertips! It also allows me to diversify my classroom library, and incorporate technology in my students lives in a new way.
This project is so important to me because I want every student in my class to be a reader and be excited about reading.
This is the direction technology is taking us, and students love being able to work on computers and do things digitally. This is another way for them to connect a passion with a passion--reading and technology-- and ensure that every student is engaged in reading. It is going to be SUCH a positive addition to our class!
