Students face a time challenge. Our school has created a wonderful outdoor classroom area, but much of the growing season is during the summer months. If our class had a greenhouse then we could get seeds started much earlier. Students could see much more of the plant life cycle.
My students are a wonderful group of Georgia second graders.
They come from rural,low- to middle-socioeconomic backgrounds. They love using their hands and tools in our outdoor classroom. The outdoor learning is beneficial to academic and social learning at our school.
My Project
My students are WILD about learning in our outdoor classroom. Students get a chance to grow flowers and vegetables. Students learn about the insects that live with these plants like ladybugs and butterflies. They are able to eat the vegetables that we grow each season. This is very beneficial to their future health.
Please donate to our outdoor classroom so that my students can go WILD about learning!
Students will be able to garden all year long with the use of a greenhouse. Students will be able to have hands-on learning to state and national science standards. Our school has created our first afterschool club called "The Mud Club." This greenhouse, and a butterfly garden, would benefit every child in the school.
