This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Daily Conversation between myself and my middle school students: "Can I print my paper here?" "No, the printer is broken." "Sigh."

I teach social studies at a diverse, low-income middle school in Bronx, NY.

My school is a 6-8 neighborhood school, although some of my students travel far distances on public buses every day. Although many of them face adversity in their life, they are aware that their hard work in middle school will be reflected once they go to high school, college, and beyond. I am inspired by these 12 and 13 year olds every day. They are truly amazing.

My Project

I have been working hard to help my students relate to American history. Recently, my students have been doing a lot of projects that involve research. The problem is that many of my students do not have printers at home and the printer in my classroom is old and broken. It would be so much easier for my students to have a printer readily available to them to print out their research and final papers.

It is important for my students to be able to print a wide variety of sources from the Internet as textbooks often fail to "give the whole story" about events in history.

I hope that my students can discover new information through their own research.
