My students come from all different backgrounds but respect each other within my class. My students understand the value of taking care of our earth and how balance in nature is key. My student understand the value of family and respecting our elders. Our class, is a Spanish level one class. It's most of my students first time being exposed to the language. My classes are always mixed with High School students of all different ages and cognitive abilities. This mini library could be a great way to introduce new cultures and way to express themselves.
I love the diversity my students bring to our class.
Their perspectives and individuality makes our learning community unique. They are motivated and curious to acquire their second language.
I expect the very best out of all my students. I want them to have the tools to succeed.
My Project
The picture book mini library will allow my Spanish high school (9-12) students a variety of choices when It comes to books for our silence reading activities. These silent reading activities help students acquire Spanish at their own pace. Students have the choice to choose their reading material which motivates them to read in a foreign language. At the moment I teach classes with 36 students and my reading materials are very limited. I teach at a very large high school but resources are also limited. I have a couple different magazines and a couple children book I have bought on my own. I go to the library to rent Spanish books so that students have some kind of selection. Having our own books would be great. Student would really appreciate the variety and the visual aid that the picture books bring to learning and acquiring a new language.
