This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are the most amazing people, but unfortunately, most come from a background of poverty. As the new band director I was doing inventory over the summer and discovered that we have little to no mouth pieces for our instruments. We need your help to get mouth pieces so they can have a band!
My students attend a school for social justice.
It is a public school and they are very diverse in personality, but sadly, most struggle with poverty on a regular basis. They are the most talented and dedicated people that I know. Chicago is a violent city right now and we need music more than ever to bring healing to the lives of our youth that face difficult times and situations.
My Project
Be a part of our team! Do you remember a time in your life that was difficult when someone or something helped you to become a better person? Our students want to succeed and band is their life! Partner with us in making music come alive in the lives of those who truly need it the most. Be a part of our family. Our band is our family and we need your help more than ever to keep their dreams alive. Our students are serious about music and some depend on it as they have received scholarships to college in the past for music.
The music is the voice of our students.
Without the instruments, their voices will not be heard! Help their voices to be heard! Give to this project and help our students dreams come true!
