Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a low income school with a high English Language learner population. Some of our curriculum is accessible through the internet; however, I have only one working computer for 33 students to use. We need net books.

My students are eager to learn and enjoy when they get to use technology.

They are motivated by computers and technology. They are learning how to navigate the world wide web. Also, they are learning that reading and math can be fun through internet applications.

My Project

These net books will be used for students to complete their Accelerated Reader quizzes, spelling practice, and math assignments/ assessments/ and practice. It will allow 5 students to work at the same time! This is much faster than one at a time and gives everyone the opportunity to practice.

This project is important because it gives these students access and practice using computers and internet.

Many of them do not have computers in the home or access to internet in their home. It gives them opportunities they otherwise would not have. It also teaches them skills for later in life.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
