My Students

Help us create! In my classroom I want to use unusual materials to help my Kindergartners use their creative minds in school.

I work with 17 little Kindergarten students in a school district located in Wisconsin.

We unfortunately are burdened with higher incidences of poverty in our district. Our district only asks our parents to provide the absolute minimum of supplies for the students. That means as a classroom teacher I need to use my allotted classroom money to buy glue, scissors, pencils, crayons, and other basic supplies for my classroom.

My Project

With little money to spend on unique art supplies, exposing my students to new and different materials is very difficult. I want to offer my students multiple materials including finger paint, weaving mats, scratch paper, and markers they can use to help inspire their creativity. The students will learn to create art as well as discover other creative talents they possess.

When my students use these materials they will be able to experience art in a whole new way.

The supplies will give students a chance to create and then write about their creations. They can also work on their writing by using finger paints to create words, letters, or numbers. The students can be extremely creative in any way they would like with these supplies.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
