My Students

Did you know the CDC reports the number of overweight children between ages 6 and 11 has increased more than 300 percent in the last 25 years? My students need to learn fun and exciting ways to stay active!

My school services over 750 students from Kindergarten to second grade.

We are a Title 1 school and the vast majority of my students fall below the poverty level. At our school, however, we strive to make everyone feel included. Enabling students to experience things (materials, trips, games, etc.) that they wouldn't normally be able to experience enriches their learning and makes educating them even more fulfilling.

My Project

With the Dance Dance Revolution materials my students will be able to participate in an engaging activity that not only gets their heart rate up but also motivates them to stay active. The game is fun and accessible to every student I teach. Its non-competitive nature will foster self-confidence and the challenges it puts forth to the player build coordination, agility and directionality. Dance Dance Revolution is the intersection of entertainment, fitness and learning.

Physical Education should be about building confidence, building fitness and building aspirations.

Unfortunately the lifestyle we lead is often a sedentary one. I want my students to leave my class feeling spent and like they have accomplished something. Your donation will bring joy to hundreds of students, but more importantly it will improve their self-esteem and their health. With those two things... the sky is the limit!
