Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Summer vacation is almost to an end and my school must create some serious magic, in order to pass another state mandated exam. Yikes! Here comes the dreaded MEAP test! If only I had a sorcerer’s wand to make a room full of costly toner appear therefore making all my dreams come true!

Some of my fourth grade ESL students need to refresh their memories from a relaxing summer and get cracking on writing narrative text and figuring out puzzling math word problems.

Language is a big issue when eighty percent of your school is bilingual. All my students need is a little nudge here and there and that’s when I need to pull out all of my handy tricks. Sticking to dull black and white can put anyone to sleep! Copies printed in various shades of the rainbow, will keep eager minds alert and en able me to color code lessons for first-year ESL students and guide them through difficult concepts of writing and math.

My Project

During the school year, my copier becomes my best friend and can really crank-out come interactive worksheets for my students to master. Imagine what a fourth-grader can learn in a year! Subjects like social studies can really stand-out with powerful dated flow charts too teach Native-American history. Copies of thinking-maps can be printed and students would get a chance at working in collaborative groups.

Funding this project will generate a wealth of learning and provide a smooth transition for all of my first year ESL students to become proficient readers and writers.
