Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine trying to demonstrate your science experiment to 30 of your fellow 3rd grade classmates? They can't see what you're trying to show them, nor can they clearly see your drawings or observations.

My 3rd graders are very engaged students who are in a bilingual dual-immersion elementary school program.

At our school, 75% of the students live in families who struggle economically and who qualify to receive free or reduced price lunches. My students are eager and enthusiastic about science because we have an excellent science curriculum of FOSS hands-on science and we use all three of the 3rd grade FOSS kits during the year. FOSS is aligned with California standards and engages each and every student in doing science hands-on in the classroom.

My Project

I'm requesting a new LCD projector to allow us to connect our document camera and project demonstrations of science materials and math manipulatives. Students will be able to present their work to their classmates. I will be able to more effectively demonstrate to students how to do our hands-on science activities for each unit. By sharing what they are observing and learning, my students will solidify their emerging understanding of key science topics.

By seeing clear demonstrations of what is expected, the students will be much more successful completing their hands-on science activities. Being able to present their work publicly to their classmates they will gain confidence and a deeper understanding of the science concepts they are exploring.
