My students need healthy snacks to keep them focused and full for the five hours they are in class between breakfast and lunch.

My Students

My students spend more than 8 solid hours in school every day, with a 5 hour gap between meals! They need snacks to keep them healthy, focused, and full while working hard and achieving at the highest academic level.

Our students have an extended school day - 7:40 until 3:45 - sometimes longer if they stay for clubs or tutoring.

Unfortunately, the 5th-8th graders don't have lunch until 1:00 pm. This is too long between the small breakfast that the school serves and a lunch that they many times do not like. When snacks are brought from home, many times they are unhealthy and rather than help them, these sugar filled foods cause more disruption to their day.

My Project

When students have full stomachs, it is much easier for them to concentrate. Their academic success will increase, if you help provide them with snacks such as healthy crackers and granola bars. A similar snack drive last year helped our students tremendously and helped them reach their full academic potential.

I know that as a teacher, I am sure to snack in between classes in order to give myself energy throughout the day.

My students deserve that same option. By funding this project, you will help to give them the energy and concentration necessary to be academically successful.
