My Students

Save our writing! Our class needs writing folders in order to keep our writing organized and neat. My students also need a tool to help them follow along when we read textbooks together or in small reading groups.

When students come into 3rd grade they are growing writers.

Third grade is such a great year for student writing. They understand the basics of writing complete sentences and grammar, which allows them to get creative by using details and voice. Staying organized with all their writing papers and understanding the process is very important. During guided reading the students love to write during their center time. The writing and publishing center will give great prompts and materials for students to get creative and write in different genres.

My Project

Due to budget cuts, our district could not provide classroom sets of writing folders like they do each year. Since writing is a process, there can be a lot of papers for each student's writing piece and it is important for them to recognize the difference between each step in the process. Also, even though we do a lot of engaging actives in the classroom, many times we have to read together from the textbook. Students struggle to follow along and the reading trackers will engage them to read with the class.
