Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Resources are scarce in our urban school district, and appropriate materials for social studies curriculum are hard to come by at a reasonable cost.

Over 90% of our students qualify for free lunch and 60% are Latino.

They are wonderful, creative, intelligent kids who are curious about the world and just as capable as any other students across the nation. They just need access to the same quality materials that students in wealthier districts have.

My Project

Quality trade books in the hands of curious kids will provide years of pleasure, wonder and pride for our state. This selection of books includes not only biographies of the founding fathers but of women and people of color who have contributed to our Massachusetts' innovation and advancement in the world.

These books will allow our children to become better readers and more informed citizens and develop a love of learning crucial to their development.

These books will become an integral part of our classroom library, greatly increasing our nonfiction selections which are required to support a well-balanced literacy program.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
