My Students

Help us Purchase engaging tools to spend 20 minutes independently learning, while others are all in reading groups!

I have 22 wonderful kindergarten students in my AM class.

There are three more sections of this size that all share resources. My students are tech savvy, loving our new smart board and are ready to move beyond a barely working ipod nano as the listening center.

My Project

Wow...two ipod touches! That would be amazing. I developed a reading program five years ago called flooding. The kindergarten day in many places is only three hours, yet the expectations of reading and writing are so high. So I developed this program where the kindergarten classes are "flooded" with aids and all kids get a small reading group five days a week. With budget cuts I will need to run one group a day at the listening, watching and learning station along side the reading groups. Ipod touches would be used as a group to watch, listen to and learn from many online resources such as starfall.com, tumblebooks and audio books. With flooding in place, students receive individualized instruction and all have the opportunity to achieve one year's growth or more in literacy!

We currently only have one ipod nano to share with a group of five in four sections of kindergarten.

We could do so much more with an ipod touch and replace broken outdated technology as well.
