This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A Title I school and Sixth Grade Science comes with many exciting, but sometimes challenging moments. I can not say enough about how rewarding my job is when I can help my students beat the odds. It's always the little things that can make a big difference in a students' life.

About 90% of my students come from unstable homes and many other challenging social pressures.

My constant drive to improve their self esteem and feeling of success is what makes my job all the more rewarding. Creating a positive environment for my students enables them to drift away from gang violence, home concerns, and other negative situations. Often times they have been let down so many times that it hinders their ability to show their potential in the classroom. We lack the supplies to go above and beyond the average learning experience on a daily basis. Unfortunately our students understand that they do not have everything that other schools may have and that becomes a let down in many cases.

My Project

We have very few supplies to keep our learning moving forward, creative and engaging. By receiving an actual WORKING pencil sharpener, and pencils and erasers will show my students that learning can become easier and quicker with the right supplies. At times my students have to keep getting up to use the ineffective pencil sharpener. On the other hand we have to spend time looking for a pencil to complete their work, worst case scenario they have to use a crayon to complete their work.

By donating to this project you relieve our tired pencil sharpener and bring fantastic WORKING pencils and erasers into our classroom.

This may seem like a small request, but it is a HUGE need to keep our classroom moving smoothly!
