My Students

Imagine a story you want to tell, but you have no supplies to create it. My students need these supplies to create stories through art and technology. They will be able to use their imagination to show their creativity through videos.

My students will range from sixth through eighth grade students.

They are very creative and love art and technology. My students come from a rural area with low to moderate income. Some of our students do not have access to technology or art at home. These materials will help them learn about the art of sculpture and the use of technology. Claymation will be completely new to our school and our students would love to have the chance to create these Claymation videos!

My Project

My students will begin with a lesson on how to create a Claymation video. They will then design a storyboard and include the details they will show in the video. Once the storyboard is complete, the students will begin sculpting their characters and props using clay. Once their character and props are finished, the students will use their digital camera to take pictures of the characters and props. They will be moving the characters and taking more pictures. Once they have all of the pictures of the story, they will import the pictures into Windows Movie Maker. They will then create their movie with their pictures. The movie will turn out like a flip book! It will be animated with the still photos of their characters. They will then add audio to the story and we will play the movies in the video announcements. My students would love to have the opportunity to create these movies. They will learn skills of art and technology in this new activity!

These videos are spectacular when they are finished. My students would love to have the chance to create using clay, cameras, and computers to make videos. I hope you will donate to this new idea of incorporating the arts and technology! Claymation is a new form of animation for our technology savvy students.
