Improving Students' Writing With Flash Drives

My students need 50 flash drives to save, transport, and publish their writing efficiently.

My Students

There is not a secure way to save documents at our school. When my students type their work, others can change or delete it. As you can imagine, discovering that a nearly complete piece of writing is missing is devastating.

My students are 9th and 11th graders in rural northern California.

They attend the only comprehensive high school in the county and come from a variety of backgrounds. While they face many challenges, their potential is clear and empowering them will add much to the community.

My Project

These flash drives will empower my students to engage in the writing process and work toward publishing notable work. They will have the ability to save and transport their writing,which will allow them to continue work at home and at other computers on campus.

Without these drives, my students will continue to leave the computer lab without knowing what they will be left of their files when they return.

They may be altered or deleted. These reluctant writers often feel demoralized when facing these seemingly avoidable challenges.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
