Video Taping to Improve Oral Fluency

My students need a flip video camcorder to record themselves in order to increase oral fluency.

My Students

Many students struggle with oral fluency both in reading and speaking.

My class is a third grade self contained classroom in rural Maine.

I have 21 students in this class including many who struggle with reading fluency delays, 3 with speech disabilities, and one ESL. The students are engaged with technology and will benefit from having access to a video camera.

My Project

Being able to express oneself is a great gift and aids in future success. Students often are not aware that they don't speak or read clearly. By video taping themselves and viewing they will become more aware and be able to monitor their own progress.

Our future depends on our young people.

We need to provide them with tools to monitor and grow as readers and speakers. The opportunity to monitor their own fluency will benefit these young learners.
