This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever experienced writer's block? By using a photo, the student would break the stranglehold of writer's block.

Our school is Title 1 funded and located in Florida.

President Barrack Obama visited our area last year because the area had the highest rate of foreclosed homes and the highest unemployment rate. Many students do not have the resources to buy school supplies. Our school opened a food pantry so that the children can take home a backpack of food items for the weekend. A community church is stocking the pantry and providing our neediest students with clothing, eyeglasses and at least one pair of shoes.

My Project

Digital cameras are easy to use and, because they provide instant feedback, they are a lot of fun. Students would love taking photos of each other, but once they get past that their creative juices start to flow. Reluctant readers or struggling writers often find their voices emerging from what they capture in the camera viewfinder. This is why I would like to integrate photography into my classroom activities. Using photography will break the stranglehold of writer's block that many students experience.

It would be ideal to facilitate a digital camera to each twenty-five students but I am creating a writing center with the four cameras I am requesting.

This will be a major impact to motivate and improve the student's writing ability.
