They always say the third time is a charm, right? Well, I am hoping that is true... I have requested the following materials 2 previous times, but never got funded. This is my third time and I know my kids and I will get the Science materials this time around!
I teach 4th grade students at a Title I (high poverty) school in Southeast Louisiana.
We just started school a week ago and these kids are amazing. They deserve the very best!
This is my students' first year at a new school; they came from at least 2 different elementary schools and are now transitioning to life in middle school. Not only that, my students must take a high-stakes test in the Spring. If they do not pass this test (LEAP), they will have to repeat the 4th grade.
My kids have already told me that their favorite subjects overall are Math and Science. I have virtually no fun Science materials, however, I would love to have an active, exciting Science classroom where we are all investigating instead of just reading out of a book.
My Project
I am requesting a complete set of Science activity tubs and 2 sets of Science games for my students. The activity tubs will allow my class to investigate many different Science concepts using fun materials. The set includes the following tubs and each tub has 8 activities: electricity, matter, the human body, simple machines, cells & organisms, force & motion, the solar system, and properties of Earth. We can create almost any experiment with these tubs!
I am also requesting 2 sets of games: The Secrets of Science and Can Do! Science games. Both of these sets will give my class a total of 9 Science games that cover every concept required at the 4th grade level. Not only that... the games look FUN!!!
Please help me to finally create the engaging Science classroom that I really want for my students.
