My Students

I am a first-grade teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are very special, and I just love going to school everyday to see the sparkle in their little 5-8 year old eyes. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure everyday with my students! The items I am asking for

I want to bring "Undersea Treasures" to my students in Wisconsin.

Bringing the ocean to students in Wisconsin can be very tricky, but I am excited about making it happen so that my students can appreciate the wonder, the beauty, and the importance of protecting our precious resources. I want to give my first-graders many opportunities to touch, hold, look at, explore, create, and to enjoy the ocean and its inhabitants. Each of the items below involves students getting involved and having tremendous fun while reading and learning, which is how I love to teach in first-grade!

My Project

I am requesting some wonderful children's books about ocean animals including: Andre the Famous Harbor Seal, Hooray for Fish!, Dear Mr. Blueberry, and Humpback Goes North. I am also requesting a Feel and Discover Ocean Bag that is full of ocean goodies for the kids to touch, read about, and explore. Last, I am requesting 5 magnetic write and wipe boards for us to use our ocean stencils on, for writing about the ocean animals, and for using our magnetic letters to spell ocean and other words. As you can see I have very carefully planned for every penny of this proposal and would be getting many materials for the cost. The materials would be used over and over again from year to year. Thank you so much for considering funding of this proposal.

My students need to understand the importance of our oceans' precious resources so that they can insure the safety and protection of our environment in the future.

Research shows that the best way to get students involved in the protection of our environment is to teach them and help them to feel that connection, love, and appreciation. Please help me to give that to my students by supporting our proposal. Thank you very much and my students thank you as well!
