My Students

Opening the kiln to a riot of shiny, brightly colored pots is an exciting experience. Ceramics is a hands-on subject that gives many students who have problems with other subjects the opportunity to be great.

I teach 33 students hand-built ceramics in a small high school in a rural high poverty area.

Resources are strained in our small school system. We are beginning our new school year with fewer teachers and a severely limited budget. We have gone to a four day week in order to stretch our funds.

My Project

Our students are bright and creative, and they deserve the opportunity to finish their art work. At the present time we bisque fire pots but do not have the materials to glaze the majority of the students' work. Being able to glaze will take their ceramic works one step higher.

These glazes will give my students the chance to explore color in relation to ceramic work.

These experiences will begin to prepare them for college art courses. These young people deserve the opportunity to bring their ideas to life. Your generosity will help this happen.
