Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever got chalk all over your hands or clothes? Do you like to sit it one place in a room for more than an hour? If you answered no, then you know what this mobile whiteboard in my classroom will bring to my students. My students will be able to receive a "clean" small group lesson anywhere.

My students are bilingual 8th graders who range from low proficiency to high proficiency in English.

They come mostly from Mexico, but occasionally I have students from other Spanish speaking countries. My students come from loving, but struggling families. Their parents are very interested in their education and they are eager for their children to succeed, especially in English.

My Project

Students in my classroom are very visual and hands-on. Both of those needs will be met with this whiteboard. My 8th grade students also need to be mobile during the 90 minutes we have together. That is why I have created 5 learning centers within my classroom. This mobile whiteboard will provide a mobile learning tool to give lessons at any one learning center. The mobile whiteboard will also provide opportunities for students to work cooperatively on learning and practicing English.

This project is important for my students and the way they learn best.

Bilingual students are visual and audio learners. This board will provide them an area to learn with myself giving a lesson or with the students practicing English cooperatively.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
