My Students

Help us replenish our science kits so that all students can be engaged in hands-on science experiments.

My fourth graders attend a suburban elementary school where over half the student body is receiving free or reduced lunch assistance.

I have overwhelming support from their parents who understand the value of a solid education. Due to fantastic support from home, an exceptional team of teachers and staff, and hard working students, our school has recently been recognized as "exemplary" by our state board of education.

My Project

With the Rocks & Minerals Unit Kit, my students will explore 3 rock samples and identify different properties. Reading selections introduce students to the properties and origins of the 3 basic rock groups-igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. The Land and Water Unit Kit consists of several activities including modeling the water cycle and producing "rain", analyzing soil components and investigating interactions with water, running water through a stream table to observe changes in land, and land formations in stream tables. The additional stream table will allow for smaller group work.

Through hands-on explorations, my students will develop thought-provoking questions and a deeper understanding of the natural world around them.
