My Students

Imagine the first day of school. The smell of new crayons, a box of unsharpened pencils, and the perfect new book bag. For many students, this is their day....but unfortunately not all students have the necessary school supplies.

My county has one of the highest unemployment rates in North Carolina.

This has had a huge impact on our district as well as our students. In my school of over 600 students (pre k - 5th grade), our free/reduced lunch rate is almost 60%. As the production jobs have ended, so has the ability of many families to provide basic school supplies for their children.

My Project

I would like to make a difference. I am a second grade teacher and the parent involvement coordinator for my school. I would love to have new crayons, paper, glue sticks, pencils, pencil pouches and colored pencils available for the children. Not only would it benefit our students, it would make life a little easier for our struggling families.

Thank you in advance for sharing from your abundance to ease the burden of struggling families and make a child's day brighter, by helping to supply them with these essential supplies.
