Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It's really difficult when I need to get lyrics to a NY school chorus of 45 3rd, 4th or 5th graders, or 30 Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders and need to wait 2 or 3 days to get it done. There are days when the keyboard lab classes need to get copies of a page in a book ...with no copier access for a few days
My students are the BEST!
They LOVE music, performing and are GLEE kids in training! Not only do we have a keyboard lab, I have 2 choruses that perform throughout the year at school, local nursing homes, and arts venues. A copier is vital to get lyrics printed, music and classroom keyboard info printed, as well as programs and letters to parents. We have an AMAZING arts program, and I have seen such growth and raising of self esteem among these amazing kids through the arts.
My Project
I had a copier for the last few years, but it stopped working and would be too costly and outdated to get fixed. With the budget the way it is...well there certainly isn't money for the music programs copier!! As the budget shrinks, we can't let the arts slip through the cracks again, we've come too far!!
Getting a copy machine for our Arts programs is vital to its success.
Students need to read lyrics (music is the BEST way to learn!!) don't YOU remember songs you sang in elementary school???
