Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Proven results! Research shows that students scores in school and their overall enjoyment for reading are positively affected when they are read aloud to. So to meet that need, I have made a listening center in my classroom. They build fluency skills, confidence, and a love for reading.

My school is a great school in the state of Florida.

We have a very diverse group of students from mainly low, socio-economic homes. Many of our students come into our school as kindergartener's speaking Spanish, so we are continually looking for news ways to make our classrooms inviting and exciting.

My Project

Since many of our students do not get read to at home (sad, but true), I am requesting these listening center items so they can get read to here at school. Not only will I read to them on a daily basis, but these items will allow them to hear other voices and ways of reading different texts. The bean bag chairs also allow the students a way of relaxing and enjoying the reading time. Some of our students have never sat in a bean bag chair before!

These donations will make a difference because not only will this year's class be affected by these items, but also many years to come.

These donations will help to make reading enjoyable and help to expose our students to some new reading activities.
