My Students

How did your school day begin as a child? One goal I hope to achieve this year is to awaken my students' minds with DAILY WARM UPS! These will be short academic activities to entice them to begin charging up their brains for the day!

I teach in Kentucky at a K-5 elementary school where we serve a student population with close to 70% of our 400 students qualifying for free or reduced lunch services!

We have students from all walks of life---rural to inner city. We also have students with learning disabilities, as well as medical impairments that challenge us to create learning environments that meet them where they are! My colleagues and I strive to create learning environments that meet the needs of all learners, everyday in every way!

My Project

As my students unpack for the day, they will anxiously await the challenge of a new question of the day from subjects across our curriculum. Just as a cup of coffee gets many adults going for the day ahead, my students will be energized and excited about learning with these DAILY WARM UPS to awaken their cognitive abilities for the school day ahead. DAILY WARM UPS such as a shopping challenge, a sentence to write correctly, problem solving, or some other activity will be presented to motivate their minds! These resources will provide a vast array of daily challenges to energize their minds in a prompt fashion.

A daily dose of WARM UPS will activate my students' minds and allow them to be alert cognitively for the school day ahead.

Each morning will be a new adventure for their minds as we take moment to get our morning "joe" of sorts! Students will enjoy our DAILY WARM UPS and look forward to the new question/challenge of the day that will have a broader connection to their learning throughout the year.
