My Students

"Our stories deserve to be told!" The students in rural Missouri have incredible stories to share with the world. However, in our district funding for technology is very limited and currently our journalism class has only a single, outdated camcorder.

My high school journalism students come from all walks of life and have a passion for sharing the stories that make us all unique and interesting.

Our high school is a rural, low-income school that sits in the middle of the Ozarks. The 90 English students and 25 Journalism students that would have access to these cameras are classic American teenagers with a need to express themselves.

My Project

The two Flip video cameras will completely change how our journalism program operates. Instead of wasting time waiting for a single outdated camera to return from taping a story, we'll be able to dispatch cameras easily to student groups. The cameras will also create easier editing with the built in USB attachment. In addition, as an English teacher, I'll be able to use these cameras for Senior Projects, speeches, and so many other class activities!

These cameras will help bring our students into the technological society we're living in today.

We will be able to share the stories and projects of our school with, not just the student body and community, but (through Facebook and YouTube) the world!
