My Students

A book; an imagination, a change, a story, a tradition, a legend, an inspiration...will you create one? Imagine a child in which it is their last chance in public school, the system has given up on them, and they are destined for failure...this is my students and they are only in 2nd grade!

My students are children who have been given up on.

They face challenges in their everyday lives we could never imagine. They have been abused, neglected, and starved of love. They work on survival methods and education pales in comparison to survival. They have extreme emotional disorders, extensive DHHS files, and little to look up to. They are bright and eager to learn and absorb all information given to them. My students work well in leadership positions. They are compassionate and understanding (do to their experiences). They are grateful and appreciative. My students are wonderful and well deserving of quality education. They are the ones who need the experience. They need to get away from the pain and escape into books. They need love, attention, and faith restored in their lives.

My Project

Books....Open minds, hearts, and doors...What is education without them. When emotions are tapped into, the brain works as a sponge. I believe I have included books in which tap into emotions and relate to my students. The chosen books relate to them and their culture and heritage. There are also classics included in my selection which most of them have never heard. I believe I can open their hearts up to the enjoyment of reading. I will use them to teach them about themselves and new concepts. I will be able to get them to read for pleasure and not because they have to. I will open doors and eyes into the great world of literature and imagination!

With your help and my enthusiasm, I know we can change these underprivileged children's lives.

We together can develop a love of reading for these children. We can help them to explore alternative options and become productive members in society. Together we can create people who will take in the importance of books and pass it on to their families..Help me change their lives and give them hope for an alternative lifestyle other than being on the streets. This is strictly for them;OUR FURTURE!
